Karaoke and midnight margaritas

Sara and I spent Saturday evening watching corny movies and drinking margaritas. And of course singing along to the movies. There is nothing like a couple of drunken fools singing along to the Sound of Music. I can remember wanting to blog more about this but it all seems a distant memory now.

Off to Danielle's to ask her a million and a half questions. Stupid Health Assessment.

Dad was nice enough to inform me that I left my car window open last night. I only seem to do that when it rains a lot. I never leave it open when its a nice night out, no that would make sense. Guess I will have to bring a couple of towels out when I leave.

Insert Witty Title Here

Such a beautiful day today. I am completely giddy, feeling like a little school girl on the last day of school. But its not the last day of school. Oh Well. Took the long way home from school and ended up in Connecticut. I just needed to drive with the windows open, the sun shining and the tunes blasting. Then I was able to come home and get work done for school. Which I did outside in the warm sunshine.

Then there was the conversation......no details on that one sorry. Keeping that one too myself.

And then homemade mac and cheese.

I am a very content and happy Maureen tonight.

Canadia

Had such an awesome time in Canadia. I want to go back, I am thinking of spending several weeks up there after graduation.

The trip up was rather entertaining....lets just say we got lost in the wrong neighborhood in Rochester. So much for taking the lake shore route.

Then it was two days in Toronto at a friend's house. Thanks so much!!! I got to take an 18 dollar elevator ride to the top of the CN tower. Way expensive but worth the view. Now only if I could have pushed a few students off the tower while up there things would have been even better.

The Rogers Center (home of the Toronto Blue Jays) was amazing and the game even better. Dad and I kept wondering when the Blue Jays A team was going to show up and play. I think a good little league team could have given them a run for their money.

Spent the rest of the week at the Halton Country Radial Musuem, where I learned bunches of new stuff. Got to assist in the painting of a streetcar on Saturday. I helped one of the guys work on rebuilding a track mobile including the hydraulic system and then mating the engine and transmission back together. And then got to rebuild brake valves Thursday and Friday. I think I learned more in one week in their shop than I ever did at the CT musuem. Oh well, guess its their loss.

I have to admit I got a little teary eyed when it was time to leave Saturday morning. I really had an awesome time and didn't have to think about school or deadlines or anything stressful. The anxiety really kicked in and then got worse when I checked my email last night. Eleven chapters and umpteen million articles to read for tomorrow. Let the fun and games begin.

More on my adventures and hopefully some more pictures soon too.

Uber Geek

My friends at nursing school have found out this semester that I am a closet AV Geek. And I am proud to admit it. It makes me happy to make things work and for that stupid powerpoint to show up on the big screen.

I got my new laptop last night. It arrived while I was on a "date" with Sara. We went to see Dirty Dancing....by far the best movie ever btw. It was great to hear people cheering to the words "Nobody puts baby in a corner." And I hate to admit it but I teared up a little during the last dance. Stupid girliness. So anyway back to the laptop.

I pretty much could not get into the box fast enough. I took it upstairs and plugged it in. And nothing....... Pretty black screen. So not happy. So I put it away and waited until this morning to call Dell. Now from what I have heard from previous Dell clients, its like pulling teeth to understand some of the tech support people that yes....live in India. My experience however was quite the opposite. Ramin was awesome. Spoke amazing English and I could understand everything he said. He walked me through a few things first, nothing worked. So he had me take apart my computer (enter AV Geek). After loosening a few screws, the keyboard popped off and I pulled something out and replugged it in. And after putting all the screws back in....it works. Houston we have a visual. So I wicked excited. After months of trying to figure out how to pay for a laptop, etc. I finally have it. And my opening picture....a goldfish. :-) Apparently goldfishes, new laptops, people who speak English and oh yeah the fact that I have one final left in about 2.5 hours then I will be done with this semester, these are a few of my favorite things.
