A month late

Finally took pictures of the yarn dad "bought" me for my birthday. Lovely Lorna's Laces for my Clapotis shawl. I saw this shawl a year or so ago in a yarn shop in Maine and fell in love. I just couldn't justify the cost of the yarn, but dad told me to pick something out for my birthday. So I did. Found a wonderful yarn store (LettuceKnit) in Toronto that I have a feeling I will be frequenting once I move up there. Its in a very eclectic neighborhood. Wonderful yarns.....I was in heaven. Would have brought home the entire store if I could have.

I started the Clapotis shawl from knitty.com, but I haven't gotten too far yet. Its one of those items that I have to be very awake to work on.

Recap

I had written a blog while I was in Canada and intended to post it upon my return, but it seems old news. So for a quick few paragraph recap. Good times were had. There was an entire bottle of wine, I met the track squirrel and was subsequently babysat by said Squirrel. Thanks Nick!!! There was lots of entertainment and abuse from the guys making me even more sure that I want to move up there. They made me dinner, bought me a cake and sang to me for my birthday. Again thanks guys!!

A few days spent in Toronto. Wonderful days. Great dinner for my birthday that I wasn't expecting. Good conversations and understanding between the two of us. At least thats my take on the situation. It is left as is for now. Stupid distance. "A thousand miles seems pretty far
But they've got planes and trains and cars. I'd walk to you if I had no other way." That pretty much sums it up. I hate getting attached so easily. The last night was great and don't be afraid to be yourself.

The drive home.....blah, don't ever drive 10 hours in one day, by yourself when you have not gotten a full nights sleep the previous evening. I brought home a cold, but I don't mind.

Already hatching a plan to return and doing more research for my move north. I will have to rent an igloo and buy a dogsled team. But that shouldn't be a problem.

Clinicals

I am all bitched out about the crappy week I had last week. Our class started clinicals last week and it sucked. I thought I would really like it too. But things seem to be getting better this week. I gave my first shot.....I am sorry ...injection today. Really didn't hurt that much at all. Hahah.

A month from now I will be at the farm with the boys. Doing projects and rebuilds in the shop, which means getting dirty. Woo hoo. And spending a wonderful week and a half in Canadia away from school books and spending time on my own. Need to check out the city, figure out some of the neighborhoods, find the best knitting stores and coffee shops, and generally lay the foundation for moving up there next year.

So I think some of my anxiety and frustrations have gone away, but its always going to be emotionally draining taking care of another human being. Bring it on!!

Knit Buddy

My nursing school friend Sara made this little guy for me. Thanks!!! His name is Samuel Ferguson. I love the fact that my nursing school friends have the same affinity for naming inanimate objects and the same level of knitting distraction that I experience.

Also went to a new knitting shop in Holden today. All sorts of good sock yarn. Wish I had millions to spend and tons of time. Then Qdoba for lunch. Yummy. Great way to spend the afternoon, cause oh yeah....We are done with classes for the semester. Have three finals next week. Then a glorious 19 days of no school. 11 of which will be in Canadia. And I have a feeling my body will completely shut down because I am no longer able to process a lack of stress. Lets hope not though. I want to enjoy Canadia, eh!
